After a evening drive through the mountains we found a place to stay.

The Picos de Europa. Spectacular drive through narrow gorges and steep limestone peaks,took the cable car to the top.

After flying to Bilbao we drove into France to Bergerac to visit a friend. A large stone bridge with views of the old town lead you to her house.we later sat in her garden looking at the starry night and watching the bats.

After coffee we spent the rest of the morning looking around the at the antiques and the beautiful little town.Later in the day we swam in the waters at the gorge of the Ardeche,and then on to Monsieur Alexandre at his organic lavandin farm.

we threw every thing in the car and had to dash to Dover to catch the midnight ferry as the 1 oclock was cancelled. I would have prefered to have flown and hired a car.
At 2.30 in the morning we set of on the journey.I get into the zone driving at this time of the morning scanning the radio and sitting back with the road passing in the headlights. I could not believe we were driving to the south of France and back in two days in my old car. After two hours we pulled off from the peage and slept untill the morning.
